When someone you love is seriously ill, the journey can feel like a maze of appointments, decisions, and uncertainty. But hospice care reminds us that even in the hardest moments, there’s room for dignity and connection.

This November, during National Hospice & Palliative Care Month, Hospice of the Fisher Home is embracing the national theme: “We See the Whole You.” It’s a powerful reminder that care isn’t just about symptom management. It’s about stories, relationships, fears, and hopes. It’s honoring the full humanity of every patient.

What “We See the Whole You” Really Means

The Hospice Month theme this year reminds us that hospice and palliative care are not only about managing symptoms and comfort during the final phase of life. This work is about caring for the person in full. It’s about listening to their stories, addressing their emotional and spiritual needs, giving support to caregivers, and centering decisions on what matters most to the patient.

Often, the public misunderstands hospice as giving up or doing nothing. But, in truth, it is a specialized, compassionate model of care that focuses on quality of life, autonomy, and holistic support. The phrase “We See the Whole You” demonstrates that care is not one-size-fits-all; it is person-driven.

A Matching Gift That Doubles Your Impact

This year, Greenfield Savings Bank is proud to match donations to Hospice of the Fisher Home throughout November, up to $5000. That means your gift goes twice as far to support:

  • Patient care services

  • Bereavement and spiritual counseling

  • Home visits and staffing

  • Support for families and caregivers

This initiative is championed by Misty Lyons, Assistant Vice President & Mortgage Officer at GSB and a dedicated board member at Hospice of the Fisher Home.

Hospice of the Fisher Home provides compassionate care throughout the tri-county area and in their nine-bed residence. People are cared for and loved by staff and volunteers who truly value what they do. Misty said. “I’m proud that Greenfield Savings Bank is supporting the November Match initiative.”

Misty’s Story

Misty went through hospice with her grandparents in California, and it left a mark. “The care, the compassion. It reminded me that end-of-life care isn’t just medical, it’s deeply human, and deeply personal,” Misty mused. “That’s what drew me to Hospice of the Fisher Home.”

How You Can Help

Want to make a difference this November? Here’s how:

  • Donate: Every dollar up to $5,000 will be matched by GSB.

  • Share: Spread the word on social media to raise awareness.

  • Advocate: Help dispel myths about hospice and educate others on its value.

Together, we can ensure that families in our community receive the care they deserve—care that sees the whole person, not just the illness.

"There’s nothing more important than helping people die with dignity after a life well lived. They deserve to be surrounded by love, and treated with honor,” Misty commented.
